Check this out. It seems the appointment of the FEC is now starting to boil over and questions are being asked in the right places. Well done to Verona Murphy TD [IND] for asking awkward questions about this FEC.

Verona Murphy TD asking the hard questions in the Dail.
How was the FEC selected? How many applied for the positions? We know of better qualified people that applied and never heard anything back.

I too have questions similar to yours. But they should not be asked on the forum, but in the decision-making body. But will it produce results? It seems to me that everything has been resolved there long ago.Firearms United wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 2:13 pm Verona Murphy TD asking the hard questions in the Dail.

Well, these are the questions Verona Murphy TD asked in the Dail. I suppose that is the best place to be asking these questions.HarveyHD wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:34 amI too have questions similar to yours. And you may be right, it is looking like everything has been decided already and everything else is just lip service. But we still have to try and at least do something.

Of course we do. If we do nothing, they'll want more. We need them to realize that there will be resistance. They Call Me Trinity wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 10:24 amWell, these are the questions Verona Murphy TD asked in the Dail. Re: Firearms Expert Committee Updates
A recent post from our Facebook:
So by now, I'm sure you have all heard that the Criminal Justice Misc provisions bill 2022 has passed the Senate. This is the bill revoking all licenses for semi-auto rifle licenses granted post-Sept 2015.
Despite a hard-fought action by FUNI and others, there was NO listening by Minister Browne or the Gardai on this issue of grandfathering any issued licenses post that date. Even to this day the AGS are still granting licenses for Semi-autos. It was reported to FUNI that on the 13th of this month, another gun owner was granted a license for a Semi-auto. So this makes a mockery of Browne's own Dept figures for 2022 of 49 licenses granted.
Currently the act is passed but NOT ratified, as it must go back to the Dail for final work and be sent to the President to be signed into law. So there is maybe ONE LAST CHANCE for Irish semi-auto owners here. It is within Dail's power to not commence parts of an act if they so wish. Examples of this in Irish firearms legislation are things like matters on reloading ammo at home or the proof house act. So with enough persuasion, this part of this act could be just left in limbo.
Also, President Higgins has complained that he is being overworked having to sign into law bills that he has been unable to do proper research on to test their viability and legality. It should be pointed out to him that this part of the bill was NOT discussed by anyone in the Senate on any occasion! So it can hardly be claimed to ve been bated fully.
If this bill passes the president's desk. Our only option is legal recourse to the high court to challenge this bill. And this WILL NOT BE CHEAP OR EASY!!! This will require a full legal team of solicitors, Junior and senior counsel, and a barrister. This can easily run to 20 thousand euros per session with no guarantee of costs being awarded. So its up to you now dear Irish gun owner and FUNI follower/member. Do you want to redouble your efforts of lobbying your TDs on the point of not enacting this part of the act? or do you want to pull out the wallet and contribute to the legal fund? Either way there is going to be pain financially or in activism. Choice is yours.
Meantime do NOT do anything with your rifle yet. We in FUNI would be most interested and want to hear from anyone who receives a license revocation order in the next few weeks and urge them to contact us immediately if they do. As FUNI will be meeting the minister sometime in Sept and any cases of the Gardai exceeding their authority will be brought to his and any senior Gardai present attention.
Thanks,
Firearms United Network Ireland

The Semi Auto ban is now official. It has been signed into law by the President. Expect license revocations to be incoming.
